BCCFA MIDGET SEMI-FINAL-Updated

In a span of two plays, the North Langley Kodiaks turned a scoreless game into an advantage they would not relinquish.

Hosting the Victoria Spartans in semifinal midget football action on Saturday at McLeod Athletic Park, the Kodiaks pitched a 26-0 shutout to book their spot in the BC Community Football Association championship game.

The game will be on Dec. 3 at Coquitlam’s Percy Perry Stadium against the North Delta Bears.

The semifinal game had no score until the second quarter when Darius Penner took down the Victoria quarterback in the end zone. And on the ensuing kick-off, Luke Chalk took the ball all the way to the house for a 9-0 lead.

Charlie May — who was also good on three convert attempts — added a 42-yard field goal for a 12-0 advantage at the half.

Austin Balzer scored on a quarterback sneak in the fourth quarter and Drey Blair sealed the deal with another rushing touchdown.

In addition to Penner’s sack for a safety, Mason Block twice took down the Spartans pivot behind the line of scrimmage while Eric Bouma also dropped the quarterback for a loss.
